Boob Tube Time-Movie Edition

July 11, 2008

Not the usual boob tube update, but we are the usual blogger. It’s Friday night, and you know what that mean, right? It’s date night. We are in a movie kind of mood, and we will see if the Mrs. is too. Now comes the question, go to the movies (which is expensive and a hassle), or stay in and rent from our friendly neighborhood Blockbuster? We will hammer that decision out later, but one thing that will weigh heavily is the movie selection. These are the possible candidates for the night;

-“Hancock”-Some might argue that Will Smith is among the best actors of his generation. Some might argue that. We are not going to lie, but we weren’t impressed with the “Pursuit of Happiness” or “Ali.” His acting wasn’t bad in it, just more a product of a poor movie. Granted we are suckers for films like “Independence Day,” which we typically watch when it appears on Encore. We heard “Hancock” was alright. It doesn’t look like a movie that makes me want to jump out of my seat and go see, but it looks entertaining nonetheless. On the downside, we heard it was alarmingly short, and if we are gonna pay 40 bucks for a night out, we at least want to earn it.

-“HellBoy II”-Not gonna lie, we pretty much didn’t want to see this movie. We like comics, we like action, but the first one was just eh. We didn’t really want to see this movie…until we saw this commercial, which has nothing to do with the movie, but we are suckers for blatant jokes. The only one we like is at about 50 seconds.

-“Vantage Point”-We are a little suprised by this movie. Judging from the lack of information that we have heard about it, we are going to assume that it isn’t very good. We are thinking it is something along the lines of “The Interpreter,” but perhaps we will find out more. Besides, we are fans of most of the projects that Forest Whitaker takes on.

Of course the “Dark Knight” comes out next week, which pretty much renders all other movies obsolete.

Boob Tube Time: Back to back with the IB

July 1, 2008

ABC Stooge: Now that the writer’s have finished striking we can go for some orignal programming, right?

ABC Executive: That is okay, we will make more reality tv. How about a gameshow where contestants run through large obstacle courses and we hire annoying announcers to make fun of them.

ABC Stooge: You mean like that show MXC on Spike TV?

ABC Executive: No. Not like that. We will use American. While were at it, lets send American’s on a Japanese gameshow. It will be a hilarious culture clash.

ABC Stooge: Great idea boss.

ABC Executive: Who needs writers? This stuff is easy.

(ABC 8:00-9:00)-Wipeout-Seriously. This has been done before.

(ABC 9:00-10:00)-I Survived a Japanese Gameshow-Simpson’s did it.

(ESPN 8:00-9:00)-ESPY Nomination Special-ESPN is so hip, JT is hosting the show.

(WNBC 8:00-10:00)-Olympic Trials-Some may not care, but this sh*t is interesting.

Boob Tube Time: Lucky for you there is baseball

June 17, 2008

Tonight we are very limited on the sports. Some of us have been able to skip work and check out 18+ holes of golf from Tiger and Rocco Mediate, apparently 1 legged Tiger needs a 1 round playoff and sudden death. See, he is mortal. Others may have even checked out the U trying to stave off elimination. With all of this sports action, we are left with very little tonight. That very little includes…

7:00-10:00 Georgia v. Stanford —PING! (ESPN2)

8:30-9:00 How I Met Your Mother–The return of Doogie (CBS)

9:00-10:30 Nashville Star —Yeah it’s country, so what? There is no Lost or Heroes, so this is what you get (NBC)

7:00-10:00 Red Sox v. Philly–Bartolo Colon is pitching. If Wang gets hurt running, Colon should be careful breathing.

Boob Tube Time: Happy B-Day to me

June 13, 2008

Because it’s my birthday, I felt like spreading joy. The video above is something that brings me hours and hours of joy. Since it is my B-day, I don’t plan to be sitting in front of the t.v. That doesn’t mean you have plans. For those of you that don’t, here are some things to check out on the tele tonight.

8:00-11:00; Yankees @ Astros-Joba is pitching. That is enough to make us tune in. (UPN 9)

7:00-9:00; “Blue Streak”-This is a tremendously underrated movie. (HBO)

9:00-11:00-“300”-Tonight WE DINE IN HELLLLLL!!!-Following Blue Streak, check out this testosterone loaded flick. Tell me that this guy isn’t on steriods.

8:00pm-4:00am Beverly Hills Cop 1/2-This movie is on all night, so it is a good thing to fall asleep to. You can keep waking up to new and exciting jokes. That Eddie Murphy, he is one silly f*cker. (Bravo)

Boob Tube; I like turtles

May 28, 2008

This video is here for no reason other than the fact that we saw this classic for the first time today. Besides, who doesn’t like turtles? Here is a mini poll…Who is the best Ninja Turtles (there is only one right answer, and that answer is Michelangelo)? Below is the crap that you have to get through so that tomorrow will come, and you can watch the “Lost” season finale.

8:00-9:00-Wife Swap (This doesn’t even deserve a link)

9:00-10:00-Farmer wants a wife (even farmers have to deal with stuck up city girls)

8:00-10:15-Knocked up (Because “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” was that good, we can promote this movie)

Boob Tube Time: If you don’t know, now ya know

May 8, 2008

There is not much for us to put in this section because it’s Thursday. The Yankees have already won, SWEET! And there is no need to remind people what is on television, but we will anyway.

9:00-9:30 NBC-“The Office” (Not going to lie, we don’t get it, but WTF people like it.)

9:30-10:00-Use this time to meditate, perhaps read a book, or fiddle around here because at 10…

10:00-11:00-You should know by now. (Desmond and Penny)

Boob Tube Time-2 for Tuesday

May 6, 2008

Welcome to the Tuesday edition of Boob Tube. If you ever heard terrestrial radio (which is garbage, switch to Sirius) many stations were big on the two for Tuesday. Since awesomo believes the television is going the same way as terrestrial radio we are giving you a two for Tuesday. If you like sports that others don’t care about than today is your day. Awesomo loves Cat Osterman because she is hot and is alumni of the University of Texas. Hopefully for you viewers tonight she will be pitching but if it’s Jennie Finch that’s not a bad option either. The second part of the two for Tuesday is basketball playoffs. Which have been so good our buddy who recaps has not cared to do so in about a week. Enjoy tonight’s competitive athletic battles!!!

ESPN 2: 7:00pm-9:00pm Women’s Softball USA vs. Virginia Tech (Cat Osterman)

TNT: 8:00pm-10:30pm NBA Playoffs Cavaliers vs. Celtics (Screw Boston)

HBOe: 11:45pm-2:30am Braveheart (our buddy thinks he is William Wallace)

Boob Tube Time-Cinco de Mayo

May 6, 2008

Felice Cinco de Mayo!!! There are no excuses not to celebrate Cinco de Mayo tonight. Awesomo usually will find an excuse not to do something if the Yankees are playing. We are shit out of luck tonight because they amazingly have a day off. Therefore, we should be celebrating Cinco de Mayo but instead we are going to find an excuse to stay home. If you are going to be losers like us and are staying home enjoy the highlights of television tonight.

AMC: 8:00pm-10:45pm Die Hard-Don’t have time to watch the movie, just check out this. (Yippee-ki-yay, motherf”er)

Encore: 10:15pm-11:30pm Vegas Vacation (Nick Papageorgio right this way)

ABC: 8:00pm-9:30pm Dancing with the Stars-And the Dolphins want to get rid of Jason Taylor-Look at this intensity (a Howard Stern favorite)

Boob Tube Time-Sick Edition

May 1, 2008

In this edition of Boob Tube Time, the theme is sick. The reasons for this theme are two fold. The first is we are sick of the garbage that is on television. Everything right now is garbage except LOST. Watch the damn show. The second reason for this theme is I am sick. I’ve been sick for four days and with the weekend steadily approaching, I need to be better. Disregard my last reason if you do not care about awesomo’s health. Here are the shows for your viewing pleasure.

Encore: 8:00pm-10:00pm Major Payne (sick step show at the end)
HBO 2e: 9:45-12:15pm The Departed (sick movie)
ESPN 2: 7:00pm-9:00pm MLS New York Red Bulls vs Toronto (Jozy Altidore is sick)
ABC: 10:02pm-11:00pm LOST-Check out this clip, have fun with freeze frames at :39, :49, 1:09, and 1:42 (I’d be sick of being trapped on an island) If you still aren’t all over LOST’s steeze, then check this seasons 1-3 clip.
ABC: 9:00pm-10:02pm Grey’s Anatomy (Trust us, your girl is sick of watching sports)

Boob Tube Time:Hump Day

May 1, 2008

Boob Tube Time for “hump day”. Hump day sounds awesome then you realize it just means Wednesday. We here at awesomo have more than a case of the Monday’s, our problem begins with Monday and ends with Thursday. Enough talk about the days of the week. Maybe the Red Hot Chili Peppers were right when they said, “Throw away your television now.”

FMC: 8:00pm-11:00pm Independence Day (awesomo’s buddy knows the speech by heart)

ESPN: 8:00pm-11:00pm Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs (awesomo already knows how this ends, Gag Me blows the save)

ESPN 2: 7:00pm-9:00pm Bowling USBC Queens (when we think bowling, we definitely think Queens)

Completely unrelated…
