The Show: “LOST” edition (NL)

By awesomotime

In case you haven’t guessed it, we like the show “Lost.” There are plenty of teams, players, and managers that are lost in this game, so there are plenty of connections to be made. Continuing with our recap of every game, here are the NL highlights…

Marlins 7, Braves 2; Some people might have thought that the Marlins front office was “Lost” when they traded away the likes of Josh Beckett, Carlos Delgado, Dontrelle Willis, and Miguel Cabrera, but their replacements didn’t seem to fair too badly last night. Mike Jacobs, who was traded for Carlos Delgado, hit his 7th homer of the year. Hanley Rameriz, traded for Josh Beckett, also hit his 7th homer of the night, and Andrew Miller, who was the centerpiece of the Cabrera/Dontrelle trade, earned his first win of his Marlins career. The Marlins 1 1/2 games up in the NL East.

Cards 4, Pirates 7; The Pirates are like the “Others.” Jose Bautista, Damaso Marte, and Brian Bixler were instrumental in the victory for the Pirates. Who the hell are these guys?

Astros 9, Reds 3; The Astros remind Awesomo of “Hurley.” They aren’t the best character on the show, but sometimes they show signs of life. The ‘Stros pounded out 7 runs in the fourth to chase the struggling Bronson Arroyo from the game. Arroyo has yet to make it into the 5th inning in any of his starts, he may be injured.

Mets 7, Nationals 2; Santana rescued the slumping Mets from their mini losing streak, going 2-2 with 2 doubles and a walk. Oh, and he pitched 7 innings and gave up 2 runs.

Phillies 4, Brewers 5; Prince Fielder apparently has been found after the disappearing act he has performed thusfar this season. Fielder belted 2 hr’s including the eventual game winner in the 8th off of our main man Cole Hammels. In even more amazing news, the Brewers found relief as Derrick Turnbow recorded the save, could Eric Gag-me be banished from the closer role?

Cubs 7, Rockies 6; The Cubs had to earn their 10,000th win. Aramis Ramirez gave the Cubs the lead in the top of the 9th, only to blow their own save in the bottom of the 9th. Then, for some reason, Kip Wells came into pitch, and he lost the game. I have no “Lost” reference for this game.

Giants 3, Padres 2; Maddux probably wishes that he could flashback to the mid 90’s Braves when he used to win, or that sweet ’stache from the Cubby days. Maddux gave up 0 runs through 7, only to have the career saves leader blow the game, and was denied his 350th win. Glendon Rusch suffered his 2nd extra inning loss of the week, for the Padres.

D-backs 3, Dodgers 8; In a shocking twist, the D-backs lost, to a team in their division no less. Back-up ace, Dan Haren, didn’t pitch too well, failing to get through the 5th inning. Five Dodger pitchers combined to shut down the nasty Diamondback offense.
